Dánae Olano & Johanna Majoko featuring Daniela Olano on violin, Roberto Riverón on bass, and Amhed Mitchel on drums
Dánae Olano, a Havana-born pianist and composer, is a founding member of the all-female ensemble Jane Bunnett and Maqueque. She has earned a Grammy nomination (2017) for Oddara, multiple Juno nominations, and a Juno Award in 2021 for Espiral. In 2024, she was recognized as Breakthrough Jazz Artist by the Toronto Arts Foundation. Olano has also collaborated as a special guest with OKAN on On Firm Ground and World Music Album.

A graduate of Havana’s University of Arts (ISA) with Piano Cum Laude distinction, Olano seamlessly blends classical training with Afro-Cuban jazz. She has performed at premier venues including Birdland, The Blue Note, and Bimhuis, and at major festivals such as Monterrey, Newport, Saratoga, and Jazz al Parque in Bogotá. In 2024, she released her debut album, Children’s Corner, featuring original compositions and a vibrant take on Bud Powell’s “Un Poco Loco.”

Joanna Majoko, Toronto, ON
For many Canadian music fans, Joanna Majoko is a familiar name: the Toronto-based vocalist, composer, and bandleader has established herself as one of Canada’s most exciting young singers. Born in Germany to German and Zimbabwean parents, she spent most of her childhood in Zimbabwe before moving to Manitoba and later Toronto, where her career flourished. Majoko performs regularly with top musicians at prestigious festivals worldwide.

Julian Guitierrez’s Project (7) Montreal, QC
Julian Gutierrez, originally from Holguín, Cuba, comes from a rich family musical tradition and received the highest level of academic musical training in his homeland. Early in his career, he toured Europe, Mexico, and the United States with the group Mezcla before settling in Quebec City in 2001. There, he earned a bachelor’s degree in jazz from the University of Sherbrooke, followed by a master’s and doctorate in jazz from Laval University. His studies in Quebec immersed him in the province’s vibrant jazz scene and fostered lasting collaborations with numerous local and international musicians.

Julian has performed at prominent festivals, including the Montreal Jazz Festival, Off Jazz de Montréal, Mont Tremblant Jazz Festival, Clazz International Festival in Italy, and the 2025 tour in Brazil at Blue Note São Paulo. He has shared the stage with artists such as Jean-Pierre Zanella, Paul Brochu, Alain Bédard, Mohamed Abdoul Al Khabir, and Jacek Kochan, and forged meaningful connections with musicians like Jean-François Martel, Axel Bonnaire, and master Cuban percussionist Eugenio “Kiko” Osorio. His music reflects a dynamic blend of modernity and tradition, enriched with the vibrant flavors of the “Gran Caribe.”
