Events Description

Join Rue Pigalle, a travel and events-based community for women patrons of craft, on a five-day itinerary through Quebec to immerse oneself in the province’s heritage through the hands of its makers. Rue Pigalle\’s bespoke itinerary takes travellers through Québec City and Montreal, offering exclusive access to renowned artisans, studios, and experiences that showcase the region’s vibrant craft traditions.

La Belle Province – Quebec – is nothing short of a cultural alloy, a fusion of influences where tradition and artistry intertwine. The refined elegance of French métiers d’art meets the deep, land-inspired wisdom of First Nations craftsmanship. The result? A landscape of creativity that is as diverse as it is dynamic. Our itinerary is a deep dive into this richness, an exploration through the hands and minds of makers who shape materials and meaning with equal finesse.

WHEN & WHERE

Date: Wednesday April 30, 2025 to Sunday May 4, 2025

Please contact Isabelle Fish at theclub@ruepigalle.ca for a detailed trip itinerary.

Day 1 (Wednesday, April 30) – Montréal

Check-in and a 6:00 p.m. dinner at Le Germain – effortless, as it should be. We convene over expertly-mixed drinks, the kind that set the tone to be anything but extraordinary.

Day 2 (Thursday, May 1) – Montréal

Day 2 is a hands-on affair, quite literally. Embroidery, ceramics, leather. The day unfolds in the most immersive way possible: studio-hopping from one creative enclave to another, meeting three remarkable women in their natural habitats.

Day 3 (Friday, May 2) – Montréal, Train to Quebec City

We discover two hidden gems of the city’s cultural scene: a gallery-museum with a storied past and a woodworking studio where raw timber is shaped into art. After a day filled with exquisite discoveries, the road now leads to Quebec City which we will reach by train.

Day 4 (Saturday, May 3) – Quebec City

In Quebec City, we toggle between centuries old techniques and the contemporary interpretation of traditional crafts.

The studio of a haute lisse weaver is our first stop, followed by a discovery of centuries old embroidery techniques at the Couvent des Ursulines. We end the day in style, and explore the art of adorning our bodies with contemporary jewellry.

Day 5 (Sunday, May 4) – Quebec City

We wrap up our journey with two artists who seem to view conventional creative boundaries as something to be gleefully ignored. This ceramic artist shifts our understanding of scale with her oversized vessels which operate as functional art.

Wood, ceramics, metal… and, rather unexpectedly, music. Because why stop at mere physical materials when you can also throw in a melody or two? This multi-talented Québécois artist doesn’t just sculpt; he orchestrates, layering words and notes onto his creations. His work is a deeply personal emotional mix.

The trip itinerary culminates at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.
