Events Description
Summer 2020. A pandemic is raging, theatres are empty, and the future of the world as we know it is uncertain. An artist whose projects have all been cancelled is spending the summer with his six-year-old daughter. With Mom still working, the father-daughter duo grow bored, and amid pandemic anxiety, they go on a road trip from New Brunswick to Quebec. Their journey turns out to be much more than a camping adventure: it becomes an exploration of the territory we carry within us, an incursion into the terrain of grief that is harder to come to terms with. This introspective theatrical tale is set to spellbinding live music by Maggie Savoie and Sylvie Boulianne.
Hippocampe marks the return to the stage of Marc-André Charron, artistic director of Satellite Théâtre. Having brought us such offbeat, physical and often festive productions as Bouées (2023) and Les limites du bruit possible and Overlap (2021), the Acadian company returns with an intimate, minimalist show that differs from its usual style.
