Events Description
Come rejoice in colour, scent and nature’s artistry at the Ottawa Garden Festival
The event celebrates the Year of the Garden by turns the spotlight on over 75 public gardens linked in the city centre by the Rideau Canal (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Ottawa River and scattered throughout the surrounding urban and rural landscape.
Festival highlights range from On the Garden Promenade, a mix of guided and self-guided bus, bike and walking tours, to an opportunity to taste the flavours of the garden with botanica cocktails, view horticultural-themed art exhibits, and learn from the pros at floral design demonstrations.
There are many more ways to revel in Ottawa’s garden culture including experts on hand to answer questions and a chance for the public to vote on spectacular floral arrangements created by amateurs using flowers they’ve grown themselves. Curious about garden edibles? That’s also part of the multi-hued toast to summer as the ‘City of Gardens’ shows off plants and nature at their best. The family-friendly festival includes free and paid activities.
