Ottawa
Events Description
Join the Primary Colours trio for an intimate night of jazz, discover the unexpected with their mixture of head-nodding grooves, soulful melodies, improvisation and virtuosity. Opening for the Primary Colours will be the legendary Cuban pianist Miguel De Armas alongside Arien Villegas on percussion, whose performances are nothing short of a master class in original Cuban jazz rhythms.
Primary Colours is a piano trio from Ottawa that builds from the traditions of jazz, with influences from modern acts like Robert Glasper, GoGo Penguin, Tigran Hamasyan and Herbie Hancock (who they had the opportunity to meet in 2023). Blending acoustic and electric elements, the trio flows between head-nodding grooves and soulful melodies, discovering the unexpected through their improvisational virtuosity. The trio features Deniz Lim-Sersan on keys, Chris Pond on bass and José Hernandez García on drums. Recently in March 2024 the trio released their first music video Artemis, which is available on YouTube. Their debut album All Love, released October 2023, is now available on all music streaming platforms.
