Events Description

Each dark skies event with Meewasin is unique – for Saskatchewan is renowned for its skies and the changing wonders within them. From awe-inspiring sunsets to captivating sunrises, and the stargazing opportunities in between, these events showcase why our province is known as the Land of Living Skies.

Join us as we visit different sites around the Meewasin Valley to learn about our dark skies and why they are so important.

Join Meewasin and Saskatoon’s Living Sky Guy Tim Yaworski for an Astrophotography Workshop at Cranberry Flats. After the workshop use your camera and your newfound skills to practice photographing the spectacular Milky Way.

All proceeds from this experience support Meewasin’s conservation and education programs, making this a sustainable experience in one of the Meewasin Valley’s feature locations.

Event Highlights
A waxing crescent moon will set across the prairies just before 9:00 PM CST, giving us a beautiful moon view over the South Saskatchewan River.

As the skies darken, the Milky Way will start to reveal itself. Enjoy a presentation by Tim Yaworski who will describe what we’re viewing and share some tips on photographing the night sky.

Enjoy hot beverage as you gaze up at the stars, and hear from Meewasin’s Sam Cowan about the importance of the night sky and Meewasin’s conservation efforts.
