Ice Sculptures Created by Doug Lingelbach, ice and wood carver
Doug started with wood and has moved on to ice. Check out his Facebook page to see some of his amazing creations in wood and snow. Rumour has it that there may even be an ice slide at WinterShines this year!
You can also learn how to carve from Doug himself at our Little Chipper Ice Carving Workshops!
Ice Sculptures Created by Marina Cole
Started chainsaw wood carving since 2016, Marina now has pieces across Medicine Hat and has participated in international competitions, where she’s carved for 10 to 12 hours a day in Alaska, Australia, Montana, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Quebec, and Alberta. It’s the wood that fascinates Cole, how it can quickly be transformed into an object that tells a story and brings emotion. She also enjoys being outside and connecting to nature when she’s creating. Her inspiration grows when she’s surrounded by artists who share the same passion as her at competitions, and from those she creates artwork for. Recently, during a competition that showcased over 20 artists, Cole was one of three women that attended, and she placed fourth in the whole event.
Ice Sculptures Created by Julio Martinez
I started in 2003 as a sous-chef and decorator in fruits and vegetables, ice and butter, my skills grew as we had more demand in the banquet area. In 2008, I was selected by the World Ice Championship’s in Alaska to compete to represent Mexico. After that competition the trip started like a dream an ice dream.
