Events Description
Learn how to design, carve, and print on fabric in this 3-hour Community Weekend workshop at MOCA.
Led by artist Sarah Aranha, explore positive and negative space as you carve your own block out of soft linoleum. Take inspiration from the textile works of Justin Ming Yong to experiment with placement and pattern by printing your design onto fabric.
In the spirit of using what we have, and giving existing items a new life, we invite you to bring a cotton item to print on – things like a canvas tote bag, denim or jeans, a cotton shirt, or even a tea towel, napkin, or pillowcase all work well. Second-hand fabric and donated items will also be available to print during the workshop.
All other carving and printing materials will be provided. If you don’t have an item that you would like to print on, tote bags will be available for purchase.
Registration is required for this programme. Tickets are limited, book ahead to secure your spot.
