After a sold-out run at Fall for Dance North 2024, Burn Baby, Burn returns to Toronto for a limited engagement before embarking on its highly anticipated international tour.
Burn Baby, Burn blends beauty and chaos, exploring humanity’s power to ignite change. As the flames rise, the question lingers—can we spark an intentional backfire before spiraling beyond control?
Featuring nine extraordinary performers, the production captivates with a dynamic range of movement, from extreme physicality to serene delicacy, untamed exuberance to moments of levity. Set to a powerful score by Amos Ben-Tal, with evocative lighting by Simon Rossiter, Burn Baby, Burn is both visually striking and emotionally resonant, reflecting our role in the firestorm of climate change.
Guided by Guillaume Côté’s signature choreographic style, the piece contours space with resonant geometries and fervent human connections. Informed by his classical ballet roots yet shaped by sleek contemporary lines and refined athleticism, Côté’s choreography creates a visceral experience that is both bracing and poetic.
