Toronto
Events Description
Two stellar flutists join Sinfonia Toronto for two beautiful double concertos – a Baroque favourite by Vivaldi, and the world premiere of a picturesque work by prominent Canadian composer Alice Ping Yee Ho. The new work’s title, “Three Birds: Celestial Concerto for Two Flutes and Strings” reflects inspiration for its three movements from three traditions: Italy, China and Indigenous Canadian. The concertos will feature an international collaboration of virtuosos, Toronto flutist Susan Hoeppner and Italian flutist Luisa Sello. Under the baton of Music Director Nurhan Arman the orchestra will also play Vivaldi’s Sinfonia in G, Glazounov’s romantic-Russian Theme and Variations, and the beautifully folk-inspired Suite by Janacek.
