From Japan to Madagascar

Nagata Shachu is proud to present the double-bill concert From Japan to Madagascar as part of its 26th annual concert season. From Japan to Madagascar features Nagata Shachu with eclectic music ensemble ten ten, and Madagascar-born, Toronto-based guitarist Donné Roberts.

From Japan to Madagascar is an exceptional double-bill concert with Nagata Shachu performing two sets with dynamic musical innovators. The first half of the concert will feature ten ten, an evolving art experiment which performs original arrangements of Japanese folk songs with a modern twist. The ensemble is led by shamisen player and vocalist Aki Takahashi, the associate director of Nagata Shachu. The second half of the concert will be a mashup of the thrilling taiko rhythms of Nagata Shachu with the African infused melodies of two-time Juno award winner Donné Roberts and his band.
