Events Description
With Goerne described as a “commanding vocalist” (The New York Times) and Trifonov “a knockout” (The Washington Post), these titans of the classical world perform an unforgettable rendition of Schubert’s masterpiece, Winterreise.
Matthias Goerne is one of the most versatile and internationally sought-after vocalists, and a frequent guest at renowned festivals and concert halls who has collaborated with the world’s leading orchestras, conductors, and pianists. Born in Weimar, he studied with Hans-Joachim Beyer in Leipzig, and later with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.
Grammy Award-winning pianist Daniil Trifonov has made a spectacular ascent of the classical music world as a solo artist, champion of the concerto repertoire, chamber and vocal collaborator, and composer. Combining consummate technique with rare sensitivity and depth, his performances are a perpetual source of awe. He is “without question the most astounding pianist of our age” (The Times).
