Events Description
With an upward trend in the number of young people experiencing mental health issues, the 8th annual Mental Health Empowerment Day, themed ‘Behind Happy Faces’, focuses on taking charge of your mental health, combating stigma and empowering those dealing with mental health issues.
Behind Happy Faces: Taking Charge of Your Mental Health
This year Mental Health Empowerment Day attendees will have the honour of hearing from acclaimed mental health speaker and advocate Ross Szabo. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the youth mental health movement and author of influential books: Behind Happy Faces and A Kids Book About Anxiety that was part of a series of books that was named as one of Oprah’s Favorite Things in 2020. With his honest, humorous and relatable approach to mental health, Szabo’s words have captivated audiences all over the world. In addition to sharing his inspiring personal story, Szabo will discuss how brain development impacts our lives and provide insight on coping mechanisms as the building blocks of mental health.
Whether you or a loved one is dealing with mental health issues, MHED is not to be missed.
