Toronto
Events Description
When jazz met impressionism, it sparked a bold new sound that reshaped orchestral music across continents.
Orchestra Toronto explores this rich musical exchange with a program that opens with the sparkling charm of Tailleferre’s “Overture for Orchestra” and closes with the hypnotic crescendo of Ravel’s Boléro. Pianist Michael Kim joins us for Ravel’s “Concerto for the Left Hand,” a haunting, virtuosic work written for a pianist wounded in war. Gershwin’s An American in Paris adds brassy swagger and rhythmic flair, capturing the spirit of 1920’s Paris.
