In recent years, it has due to climate change become increasingly challenging to grow high-altitude alpine plants in our garden near Oslo. Additionally, accessing seeds for alpine plants has recently become much harder due to stricter regulations worldwide. Geir Moen started this project to grow alpine plants in a more sustainable and effective way, which includes relocating nearly 1,500 alpine species to a new rock garden high up in the Norwegian mountains. My goal is to contribute to sustainability by keeping more rare alpine plants alive and, most importantly, producing seeds in a controlled environment. In this talk, he’ll share some of my experiences so far, with the hope of inspiring others to embrace sustainability in rock gardening.
