Events Description
Former staff and students of Alternative Scarborough Education 1 (ASE1) are invited to a reunion celebrating the school’s 50th anniversary. This experimental school started with a small group of students from across Scarborough in grades 11 to 13. ASE1 offers a flexible, supportive, self-directed environment that allows students to take charge of their own learning in challenging and creative ways.
A team of students who attended ASE in the 1970s recently reconnected and organized a celebration to be held on September 13. The reunion will consist of two portions. The afternoon portion runs from 2 to 5 PM at the current location of ASE1at 45 Windover Drive in Scarborough, Ontario. This Open House will display memorabilia and will give everyone a chance to see old friends. It is also an opportunity to see what is happening at the modern ASE1.
A dinner at a local restaurant will be held in the evening of September 13 which requires registration. To RSVP for the dinner, please contact Diane Montgomery at dpmontgomery236@gmail.com.
Many former students and staff have confirmed their attendance at the upcoming event. However, there are several more that have been challenging to find and may appreciate the chance to reconnect.
