Toronto
Events Description
Hosted by CBC’s Tom Allen, this evening features harpist Lori Gemmel, pianist Jamie Parker, accordionist Michael Bridge, violinist Annalee Patipatanakoon, and genre-bending soprano Patricia O’Callaghan in a thrilling and diverse performance.
Often remembered as a wise master, J.S. Bach was fiery and determined in his late teens. To hear the great organist Dietrich Buxtehude, he embarked on a remarkable 400 km journey on foot from Arnstadt to Lübeck.
Part of Music TORONTO’s new MUSE series (Music Unveiled, Stories, Explorations), Allen’s engaging production blends music and storytelling to vividly bring young Bach’s adventure to life. The program includes works by J.S. Bach, Dietrich Buxtehude, Sofia Gubaidulina, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Charles Gounod, and Tom Waits, offering audiences a rich, wide-ranging musical experience.
