Events Description
On Friday, September 19, Science World will open its doors with free admission for families as part of the Tech-Up Showcase presented by Amazon Future Engineer.
The full-day event (9:30 am – 5:00 pm) invites the Greater Vancouver community to explore hands-on science and technology programming, from robotics and coding to live cultural performances. Last year, more than 9,400 people attended, and this year promises another vibrant celebration of how STEAM learning can be accessible, fun, and inspiring.
A highlight this year is Your Voice Is Power, a workshop that teaches computer science and coding skills by allowing guests to remix music from Indigenous artists. With Canada’s fourth National Day for Truth and Reconciliation coming up later in September, this is a timely and positive community story that combines technology, music, and cultural connection.
Additional highlights include:
• Live drumming performance by YB Nakota, a traditional Sioux singer from Paul’s First Nation, Alberta.
• Interactive robotics and coding challenges for kids of all ages.
It’s a chance for families to discover, create, and imagine together – and it’s completely free, with admission granted on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to capacity.
