Conductor and composer Jaelem Bhate returns to his bandleader roots with his new ensemble ‘House of Common Time’. With his unique and signature blend of groove-driven bombast and classically infused subtlety, this all-new show Backdoor Pilot sees the return of his 17-person jazz orchestra to introduce a new outlet and direction of his creative output.
Hailed as one of Canada’s most promising talents in both jazz and classical music, Jaelem Bhate is a rare artist who steps seamlessly between genres and worlds. In addition to his role as an orchestral conductor, namely as the Music Director of the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver’s Symphony 21, he has also been commissioned by the Canadian National Jazz Orchestra, released three studio albums of his jazz compositions, and has arranged for some of the biggest names in the country.
