Professional tennis returns to Vancouver next summer as the Odlum Brown VanOpen is back on the global tennis calendar after a four-year hiatus. The combined ATP Challenger 125 event and WTA 125 event takes place from July 26 – Aug. 2, 2026 at the newly renovated Hollyburn Country Club in West Vancouver.
The men’s field is led by World No. 93 Benjamin Bonzi of France. He brings extensive top-tier experience to Vancouver following a career-high ranking of No. 42 and a first-round appearance this year at Wimbledon. The 30-year-old has competed in the main draw of all four Grand Slam tournaments, notably reaching the third round of the US Open during a career that features multiple ATP Challenger Tour titles.
The entry list highlights a diverse and competitive group, with players representing 11 different countries across six continents. Great Britain leads the international contingent with five players, followed closely by France and Japan with three entrants each, while Australia and China boast two representatives apiece. Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Spain, Chinese Taipei, and the United States each feature a single athlete.
Underscoring the talent heading to Vancouver, eight players are fresh off main draw appearances at Wimbledon, including Bonzi, Spain’s Pablo Llamas Ruiz, Australia’s Dane Sweeny, and the British quartet of Jacob Fearnley, Toby Samuel, Jack Pinnington Jones, and Harry Wendelken. Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki had a phenomenal run to the round of 16 at the All England Club.
Spanish talent Pablo Llamas Ruiz is navigating a 2026 season that featured an impressive third-round run at the Italian Open. Now sitting at a career-best World No. 119, the 23-year-old secured his second ATP Challenger title this season by defeating former top 10 player Pablo Carreño Busta in the final at Montemar in March.
Ranked World No. 123, 23-year-old Briton Toby Samuel has ascended the rankings, highlighted by winning back-to-back ATP Challenger titles earlier this year. He made his Grand Slam main draw debut at Roland Garros in May. Samuel continues to build on a junior career that included a Boys’ doubles semi-final appearance at Wimbledon.
Australian Dane Sweeny is enjoying a strong 2026 campaign highlighted by a second-round appearance at his home Grand Slam in Melbourne in January. The 25-year-old sits at World No. 127, just one spot shy of his career-high ranking achieved earlier this summer. He claimed his first career ATP Challenger Tour title at Queensland in February.
Holding a current ranking of World No. 138, Great Britain’s Jack Pinnington Jones reached his first ATP Tour quarterfinal at the Dallas Open this past February. His resume also features a pair of ATP Challenger titles from last year and a first-round win over current World No. 32 Tomás Martín Etcheverry at Wimbledon in 2025.
Returning to Canadian hard courts a year after capturing an ATP Challenger title in Granby, Québec, 28-year-old Dane August Holmgren arrives in Vancouver ranked World No. 143, just two spots shy of his recently established career high. The former NCAA singles finalist had a solid showing at Wimbledon last year, reaching the third round.
Bolstered by main draw victories at both the Australian Open and US Open last year, 25-year-old Tristan Schoolkate has three ATP Challenger singles titles to his name. The Australian is currently ranked World No. 149, having reached a career-high No. 95 last September during a season that featured his first ATP Tour quarterfinal appearance in Los Cabos.
The Odlum Brown VanOpen has long been recognized as Western Canada’s largest and most successful professional tennis tournament. The 2026 event marks a new chapter for the tournament, which has played a pivotal role in the development of both Canadian and international players since its inception in 2002.
