Events Description
The 23rd annual Richmond Maritime Festival welcomes all to Steveston to explore the rich nautical culture of the community. The free, family-friendly event will feature a vibrant lineup of workshops, puppet shows, and live entertainment. Spotlight performers are the Naden Band, the 35-member ensemble of the Royal Canadian Navy that was first formed in 1940. Visitors will also have a chance to view restored wooden boats and vessels from the boardwalk and learn about their history, including the SS Master, one of the oldest steam-powered tugboats in the region built in 1922. Families with young children can also dive into hands-on interactive activities that pay tribute to seafaring, from flag-making and painting to knitting and crocheting.
The Richmond Maritime Festival is free for all to attend and offers fun for all ages. For more details on this year’s program, visit richmondmaritimefestival.ca.
