Events Description
Step into the world of Chinese calligraphy—where language becomes image, and writing becomes a meditative, expressive art form. This immersive session introduces calligraphy not only as a technique, but as a living cultural practice shaped by history, philosophy, and daily life, using guided discussion, interactive exercises, and hands-on practice.
Explore where calligraphy appears in contemporary and traditional contexts, who uses it, and how it has been preserved and reinterpreted over time. By the end of the session, you will be able to recognize and remember one to two Chinese characters, carrying a tangible connection to the practice.
The experience continues with a deeper look into ancient scripts, tracing the origin and evolution of Chinese characters and their relationship to everyday life. You’ll be introduced to the five major calligraphic styles, engage with visual references, and take part in interactive exercises such as interpreting forms and meaning.
