Calgary Transit Changes Due to COVID-19

imageTo reduce the rate of spread of COVID-19, Calgary Transit is making the following changes effective March 20, 2020:

  • Calgary Transit is asking customers to board buses using the rear doors in order to keep operators safe by reducing the number of interactions between operators and customers, increasing physical distancing. Customers who require accessible boarding can still board buses at the front.
  • Customers are asked to rip up single-use tickets once you board from the rear, and to purchase single-tickets using machines when possible.
  • Calgary Transit Access will begin limiting the number of passengers onboard all vehicles to two people.

“Through this difficult time, we thank Calgarians for being honest and paying their fares,” said Russell Davies, Acting Director, Calgary Transit. “This is an honour-system approach. Let’s come together as a community to keep our city safe.”

Calgary Transit has implemented enhanced cleaning measures on all Transit vehicles. Anti-bacterial and anti-viral agents are being used to disinfect all high-touch areas onboard vehicles like grab bars, seats and other areas that are frequently touched by operators or customers. Vehicle cleaning adheres to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.
