Alberta is poised to commemorate its 119th year as a province with the 3rd annual Alberta Day celebrations. The day serves as a tribute to Alberta’s official designation as a province on September 1, 1905.

The free family-friendly celebrations, organized by the provincial government, will be held at Heritage Park in Calgary, promising attendees a unique experience, reminiscent of Alberta’s vibrant spirit.

From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Heritage Park will be buzzing with a variety of live performances. Headlining the event will be Royal Foundry. Moreover, the list of performers also boasts names like Cabot’s Crossing, Jason Andrew Griffith, Eden Taylor, and more, ensuring there’s something for everyone’s musical taste. The day’s festivities will conclude with an awe-inspiring aerial drone show in the Historical Village.

Beyond the live performances, attendees can immerse themselves in the rich, living history spread across 127 acres. The day promises a gamut of activities catering to all age groups, from kid-friendly attractions to a delectable spread of Canadian and international cuisines.

Though admission is free, special wristbands, available for separate purchase, will be required to access to Heritage Park’s signature Antique Midway and S.S. Moyie rides. Advanced bookings for S.S. Moyie ride bracelets and Antique Midway ride bracelets are encouraged due to limited capacity.

Visitors are advised to use Calgary Transit or carpool, anticipating a surge in attendance and potential traffic congestion, especially with ongoing roadwork on 14th street. Parking at the venue, while paid, offers a 90-minute free zone. For extended stays, parking costs $10 for the initial 7 hours, followed by a reduced evening rate.

For those keen on supporting Heritage Park’s mission, donations are encouraged. Such contributions aid in preserving Alberta’s diverse and compelling history for future generations. Note, donations do not cover the cost of wristbands for the aforementioned rides.

Attendees are also urged to factor in an additional 30 minutes to their schedule to ensure a seamless entry and full enjoyment of Alberta Day’s offerings.

Trip Planning: Alberta Day at Heritage Park

With live entertainment, kid-friendly activities and a tasty spread featuring Canadian and international cuisine, this is an Alberta Day bash you won’t want to miss. And of course, you can still enjoy all your Park favourites as you experience the sights, sounds and smells of living history across 127 acres.

Make sure you stick around to the end for the unique opportunity to see a live drone show in the Historical Village.
