Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, revealed more details about the free Canadian Dental Care Plan included in budget 2023.
The plan, which aims to provide free dental care for modest-income households, will begin by the end of 2023.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan will become available to uninsured Canadians under 18, persons with disabilities, and seniors with an annual family income of less than $90,000 this year.
There will be no co-pays for those with an annual family income under $70,000.
As originally announced, the Canadian Dental Care Plan will be fully implemented to cover all uninsured Canadians with an annual family income under $90,000 by 2025.

The budget for the plan is $13 billion over five years, beginning in 2023-24, with an additional $4.4 billion in ongoing, permanent funding.
“No one should have to choose between taking care of their teeth and paying their bills. Budget 2023 will help millions of Canadians see a dentist and provide much-needed relief for families,” said Trudeau announcing the news.
According to the news release, it will cover up to nine million Canadians.
The government previously launched the Canada Dental Benefit for children under 12 last year, which has already helped over 250,000 children across the country access dental care. The Canadian Dental Care Plan will expand on this initiative and provide more comprehensive coverage to a larger number of Canadians.

Senior dental cover by the Fall of 2023 - Fall is over !!
Why cannot the Government actually give a date?
I too am not a refugee, neither native, veteran, convict nor child. As a child, the dentist in my town pulled my 4 bottom molars,no fillings, just extractions which he was not even good at and no freezing because at that time I was afraid of needles.I am a single senior age 76 now and worked full time for 42 years, but have been in just ok health since age 70, I had approximately 10+ emergency surgeries in a short period of weeks when I turned 70 and as a result of multiple intubations,my upper molars (3)were cut off at the gums, had to have another 4 teeth extracted ( with 3 roots as well) and my 4 front teeth are all cracked in numerous areas.I took care of my teeth and always had a dental plan @work but I am findng it difficult as a single woman to maintain an individual plan which covers 1 exam/year and fillings which I am way past that scene,I need caps on my teeth which would cost approx.$1200 each,I have one tooth to chew food with.I feel as a senior we are always excluded from any benefits to maintain good dental health and general health well being, perhaps the government of CANADA will now open their eyes and finally give" US" a break!!
We are in our midd 70'th and for 4 years didn't see a dentist. We need cleaning and me I had a tooth infection and on lower part I need to fix denture that is moving and it irritated my gum and cannot eat. I called Ministry of health of Ontario to ask them when we will get some relief. No answer yet.
How much does a new set of dentures cost?
Ya,..so my dentist wants to get me in before the plan and charge me 1000 bucks...got no dental plan so easy for her to dream up 4 small cavities after the hygienist who did my cleaning said I was doing a good job....never had 4 cavity's at once before but,hey..everyone is entitled to be rich ..somehow...sheesh
