The City of Toronto, Shoppers Drug Mart, the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund and the Douglas Wright Foundation have announced that the #BeSunSafe program that provides free sunscreen will return this summer to select City parks.

The Health Canada-approved SPF 30 broad-spectrum sunscreen will be available at 75 locations in City parks along the waterfront, from Marie Curtis Park in the west to Bluffers Park in the east.

Crews provided by the melanoma foundations will maintain and stock the dispensers. The two melanoma charities and sponsor Shoppers Drug Mart are covering all costs, with the City providing locations and administrative support.

The #BeSunSafe sunscreen program was piloted in Toronto parks in 2017 and involved placing dispensers in five parks along the downtown waterfront.

It was expanded in 2018 and 2019.

The pilot won the 2017 Canadian Dermatology Association Public Education Award.

You can find the dispenser site locations here.
