Winterruption to Heat Up Winnipeg’s Music Scene This Weekend

Winterruption 2024 is here to break the winter blues in Winnipeg, and it’s promising to be an exciting event.

Running from January 23rd to January 28th, this festival aims to give people a compelling reason to step out of their homes and enjoy the city’s vibrant music scene during the coldest time of the year.

Presented by the West End Cultural Centre in collaboration with Real Love Winnipeg and various venues across the city, Winterruption offers a diverse range of both ticketed and free concerts throughout the last week of January. The festival has expanded significantly this year, boasting a lineup of 30+ performers across 12 shows at multiple venues.

Music enthusiasts can look forward to catching these talented artists and bands at locations such as the West End Cultural Centre, Good Will Social Club, Bulldog Event Centre, and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. The lineup includes acts like Bry Webb, Helena Deland, Sunny War, Making Movies, and many more, offering a wide range of musical styles and genres to cater to different tastes.

The 2nd annual Winnipeg Round Dance, hosted by Tonia Jo Hall and Joel Wood and presented by the Sakihiwe Festival will take place at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Scheduled for Saturday, January 27th, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, this event promises an immersive cultural experience. The festivities commence at 5 pm with a Pipe Ceremony, followed by a Feast 6 pm. The true highlight unfolds at 7 pm with the commencement of the First Song, launching the Round Dance in unity. At 10 pm, Giveaways emphasize community spirit.
