Winter in Manitoba can be a long, cold, dark time. But if the rumours are true, Winnipeg is filled with hearty people who actually still live and thrive in winter.
WINTERRUPTION is an effort by Winnipeg’s best music venues to give you a great reason to leave your house in the dead of winter. Produced by the West End Cultural Centre in partnership with Real Love Winnipeg and venues around town, we’re bringing you both ticketed and free concerts at the end of January.
The festival, taking place January 20-25, features an epic lineup, including the legendary Los Angeles punk band FEAR; acclaimed folk songwriter from Durham, North Carolina, Hiss Golden Messenger; American rapper, producer, and comedian Open Mike Eagle; LA-based indie pop-jazz fusion band Thumpasauraus; Berlin-based experimental pop artist Discovery Zone; Montreal’s Annie-Claude Deschênes of Duchess Says; Vancouver buzzy punks PISS; Portland psych-rockers The Shivas; Bay Area indie-rockers Sour Widows; Montreal-based electro-pop musician Sean Nicholas Savage; Toronto’s Jane Inc.; multi-disciplinary artist Vivek Shraya; local favourites Virgo Rising, Boniface, French Class, Peacebreach, Jana Jacobs, and many, many more incredible acts.
Winterruption is a multi-venue music and arts festival that brings warmth, energy, and community to the city every January, transforming the West End, West Broadway, and South Osborne into a hub of live music, performance, and connection.
