Team Canada Olympians Courtney Sarault and Mikaël Kingsbury have been named Parade Marshals for the Calgary Stampede Parade presented by Suncor, set for Friday, July 3, in downtown Calgary. The parade begins at 9 a.m., with the prelude starting earlier at 7:30 a.m.
Their selection brings fresh Olympic momentum to one of Calgary’s best-known traditions. Both athletes are coming off major performances at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, where Sarault made Canadian short track history and Kingsbury added to an already unmatched moguls career.
Sarault, from Moncton, N.B., became the first Canadian short track speed skater to win four medals at a single Olympics. She was also just the second Canadian athlete to win four medals at one Winter Games. Her 2025/26 season included the Crystal Globe as the top overall women’s skater on the ISU Short Track World Tour, along with nine individual medals across four stops.
Kingsbury, from Quebec, is widely regarded as the greatest moguls skier of all time. His record includes 100 World Cup wins, 29 Crystal Globes, nine World Championship titles and five Olympic medals, including two gold. At the 2026 Games, he served as Canada’s Opening Ceremonies flag bearer and won gold and silver, becoming the most decorated male freestyle skier in Olympic history.
Calgary Stampede President and Board Chair Stuart O’Connor said the two athletes reflect the passion and perseverance the Stampede celebrates.
Sarault will be the first short track speed skater to serve as Parade Marshal, while Kingsbury will be the first freestyle skier in the role.
After the parade, visitors can head to Stampede Park for free admission from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
