Calgary Zoo has announced that the Zoo will be temporarily closing effective March 16, 2020 in response to the constantly evolving novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The Zoo said that teams are contacting those impacted by cancellations of Spring Camps, Safari Sunday Brunches, Sleepovers and Birthday Party and Event Bookings.

Calgary Zoo President & CEO, Dr. Clément Lanthier said that, “This situation is unprecedented, and the safety, health and welfare of the animals in our care, our employees and our visitors is always our top priority. We hope that this closure is short in duration and look forward to welcoming everyone back to our zoo as soon as we can do so safely.”

Calgary Zoo assured that Animal Care and Veterinary teams are doing everything they can and are following excellent practices to ensure there is continued delivery of the highest level of animal care.
