Events Description
CCE Luncheon Speaker – Professor Trevor Tombe
Topic Perspectives on the Alberta Pension Plan
Trevor Tombe is Professor of Economics at the University of Calgary and a Research Fellow at The School of Public Policy. He is also co-director of Finances of the Nation. His academic research explores a broad range of topics, but focuses mainly on international trade, macroeconomics, and fiscal federalism. In addition to this work, he actively contributes to public policy research and outreach in Alberta and Canada.
A separate Alberta Pension Plan (APP) has gained renewed attention. Professor Tombe will assess the long-run viability of such a plan. He also explores several relevant risks, including future demographic changes and investment risks. He also sheds new historical light on a unique area of uncertainty concerning the division of CPP assets.
Professor Tombe has also commented publicly about the recent Alberta budget, so we’re confident that he might respond to some questions on that topic as well. In all, this promises to be a lively exchange of ideas regarding Alberta’s economic future.
