Events Description

The Peterborough Concert Band will perform on Thursday June 26th from 7:00 – 9:00pm at the Jalynn Bennett Amphitheatre at Traill College, as part of the William & Nona Heaslip Foundation Summer Festival. The venue is a new three-season performance space situated in the courtyard of Traill College. The festival is sponsored by the William & Nona Heaslip Foundation of Toronto.

The Band brings joy to the public of all ages. The concert promises a performance of popular tunes from the Bare Necessities to Duke Ellington to Mamma Mia! The concert will kick off with Maple Leaf Forever, a beautiful patriotic song written by Alexander Muir in 1867, the year of Canada’s Confederation. The program also contains a wonderful medley of songs from the popular James Bond movies. You also won’t want to miss our Tribute to Ray Charles! The performance is free and suitable for all age levels.

The Peterborough Concert Band, which is conducted by Saman Shahi, is a spirited community band based in Peterborough, Ontario. Founded in 1858, it is one of the oldest continuously operating concert bands in Canada. For over 165 years, it has reflected the cultural and historical life of Peterborough and the nation. The Concert Band continues to be innovative, vibrant, and relevant today with an extensive repertoire that includes popular, traditional, and contemporary music, as well as new commissions, show tunes and classical gems.
