Events Description
The Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation (CANAAF) is pleased to announce the opening of registration for Camp Summit, Canada’s premier summer camp designed exclusively for children with alopecia areata and their siblings. Taking place from July 28th to August 2nd, 2024, amidst the picturesque landscape of Kawartha Lakes, Ontario.
Camp Summit, organized by Camp Maple Leaf in partnership with CANAAF, provides a transformative experience for children aged 7 to 16. The camp promises six days packed with fun, laughter, and memorable experiences at Jacob Island, located on a beautiful 104-acre private island on Pigeon Lake in the heart of the Kawarthas. Campers will have the opportunity to try new things, create lasting memories, and develop a sense of belonging to our unique camp family. From land activities like performing arts, arts & crafts, island nature programs, climbing walls, low ropes, and archery, to exciting waterfront activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, beach games, and row boating, Camp Summit offers a diverse range of activities that encourage personal growth and build confidence. Older campers will have the chance to take on leadership roles, fostering responsibility, teamwork, and mentorship skills.
Established in 1955, Camp Maple Leaf is a registered charity that has welcomed thousands of children over the past 65 years who share unique life challenges. CANAAF is proud to be a part of this exceptional endeavour, promoting acceptance, and providing support to children and families affected by alopecia areata.
