Events Description
The smoky season is here in the Fraser River Basin—a time when fire shows its two sides: it’s a powerful force for renewal but can also be harmful, especially with today’s hotter, drier climate. Join us to explore how fire shapes our land and how we can live safely with it.
We’ll learn fire-smart tips and build a fire-resistant home; learn how some plants actually need fire to grow and regenerate in a storytime and planting activity; watch videos on cultural and prescribed burning; and discover how some plant species have adapted to fire over time.
WHAT:
Discover fire-smart strategies and design a fire-resistant home
Learn through planting and discover how some plants rely on fire to grow and regenerate
Watch videos that explore First Nations cultural burning and modern prescribed fire practices
Uncover how certain plant species have evolved to live with fire
