Manitoba winters have their fair share of beauty. If you can brave the cold, check out some of the waterfalls.
As you head out, remember to dress warm and wear boots with good grip for icy and snowier areas. Check the forecast ahead of time, and always stick to the trails.
Tulabi Falls
You’ll find this gorgeous set of falls in Nopiming Provincial Park. Spend some time hiking through the woods before finding these falls. They may not be particularly high, but they’re still stunning especially when frozen over.

Whitemouth Falls
Head to Whitemouth Provincial Park to find these falls. You’ll see them right at the intersection between the Whitemouth and Winnipeg Rivers. Nearby, you’ll also find several archaeological sites.
Directions: just north Seven Sisters Falls Community, off Provincial Road #307
Pisew Falls
Hit the trails at Pisew Falls Provincial Park and check out this wintery waterfall. Pisew Falls is just as beautiful in the winter as it is during any season. Outlined against the white backdrop of the snow, it’s easy for these falls to take your breath away.
Directions: The short turn off to Pisew Falls is 74 km / 46 mi. south of Thompson on PTH 6.
Kwastichewan Falls
Visit Manitoba’s largest waterfall, Kwastichewan Falls! It’s a tough hike, especially in winter. But for those who love a challenge, the reward of seeing these magnificent falls will be worth the work to get there.

Falls in Whiteshell
Whiteshell Provincial Park is home to some very lovely falls. Located on the Canadian Shield, this park is full of beautiful sights.
Directions: Hwy 1, Eastern Manitoba
1. Sturgeon Falls – Sturgeon Falls are among the more popular waterfalls in Whiteshell. The falls themselves, though not very high, are still wonderful to see in the winter.
Start from the Nutimik Lake Campground and across the Whiteshell River suspension bridge following the Whiteshell River Bridge trail to Sturgeon Falls.
Nutimik Lake Campground is located east of Provincial Road #307.
2. McGillivray Falls – McGillivray Falls is one of Whiteshell Provincial Park’s first interactive trails. It makes for a fantastic hike even in winter, and you’ll find the falls stunning once you reach them. Remember to pack your camera to photograph the experience!
There are two trail loops to access the falls, both from PTH 44 near Caddy Lake. The short loop is 2.8 km, while the longer loop takes 4.6 km; allow three hours. Trail Map (PDF)
3. Rainbow Falls – One of Manitoba’s most popular falls, Rainbow falls is located on White Lake. As a bonus, you don’t need to hike to see these falls and can drive right up to them. In the winter, these frozen falls look ethereal.
Start from Jessica Lake Lodge and through the forests of White Lake Campground along the 8 km (return) Rainbow Falls Hiking Trail. Trail Map
4. Acorn Falls and Viburnum Falls – Follow the rapids along the Pine Points Rapids trail in Whiteshell Provincial Park and you’ll find Acorn Falls. and Viburnum Falls. The scenery leading up to them is beautiful and a great chance to get in a little exercise. These falls may not be high, but they’re still beautiful. In the winter, they’re even more spectacular outlined against the snowy white background. Keep your eyes peeled around the falls for any wildlife that might still be poking around in the winter.

5. Hunt Lake Falls – One of Whiteshell’s many falls, Hunt Lake Falls is gorgeous in the winter. The hiking trail to reach the falls also provides good exercise. If nothing else, it makes it all the more rewarding when you reach the falls!
Karst Spring
Hit Grass River Provincial Park and visit Karst Spring. These falls can be found on the Karst Spring self-guiding trail in Grass River Provincial Park. You’ll love the Canadian Shield’s scenery as you hike towards these falls.
Directions: Leaving The Pas, go north 74km. On PTH 10, turn right and follow PTH 39 to Grass River Park. Park at the Iskwasum Landing Campground Parking lot and follow the 3.2 km return Karst Spring Self-Guided Trail.
Wekusko Falls
Visit these falls, located on the Grass River up in Northern Manitoba. This park is great for those who want to get as far away from city life as possible and who are up for an adventure. Hop on the pedestrian bridge crossing the falls to get an even better look.
Directions: MB-392, Snow Lake
From Grass River Park, continue east on PTH 39 to PR 392, turn left and drive 13 km / 8.1 mi.
