As COVID-19 cases are surging once again across Ontario, the province is ramping up rapid COVID-19 testing by distributing free-of-charge rapid antigen test kits and conducting free testing at high-traffic settings such as malls, retail settings, holiday markets, public libraries, transit hubs, and at LCBOs.
The province says pop-up teams will be deployed at nearly 50 locations across the province, including some co-located with GO-VAXX mobile vaccine buses.
Most sites will distribute free take-home rapid antigen test kits, subject to supply, and some will offer asymptomatic rapid antigen screening on-site.
Ontarians can also get take-home rapid tests available at select LCBO stores, starting with the busiest stores this week and with more stores being added in the coming days.
Ontario is planning to provide up to two million rapid tests throughout December to mid-January.
The province says the Omicron variant will become the dominant variant in Ontario by the end of the month. To increase protection against severe illness and hospitalization, Ontario will be opening bookings for COVID-19 vaccine booster doses starting December 20th.
The indoor capacity of large venues will be restricted to 50 per cent starting December 18th.
WHERE TO FIND FREE RAPID TESTING SITES & KITS
The province is asking Ontarians not to visit the pop-up site if they have any symptoms of, or have been exposed to COVID-19.
- Visit the Holiday Testing Webpage to find out if pop-up rapid antigen screening sites will be available in your area.
- Locations and operating hours will be updated weekly, and no appointment will be required.

The Mayors in Toronto , Mississauga, Brampton are very involved in getting people vaccinated and tests kits out to their people. Where are the Mayors in Niagara Region?
Why is that???? The north pole is getting better service these days. I guess if we don’t live near Toronto, we’re not important.
So is the LCBO project over? I’m getting conflicting info here.
No where in the Niagara area has the test kits, Toronto has so many locations, not a single one in Niagara Region. St Catherine’s is closest and not accessible for many folks
It is available at St. Catharines LCBOs at
• Geneva & Scott (Fairview Mall)
• Glendale & Merritt

Seems Ford forgot about The Niagara Region when it comes to boosters.
