Summer is here. And so is Winnipeg’s premier summer attraction, Red River Ex!
Red River Ex
Held annually just before the beginning of the summer season, the Ex is one big carnival. There are midway rides, animals, magic shows, exhibits, free concerts, games, food, and more fun activities to make visitors, both the young and the old, come back for more.
This 10-day festival will bring the world’s largest travelling midway to town – the North American Midway Entertainment (the same midway visits Calgary Stampede and some of the most popular state fair in the U.S.). In addition to old favourites, two new rides have been added this year, to enhance the thrill – the Double-Decker Merry Go Round and Raptor Run. There are enough games and rides for visitors of all ages.
This year also sees Jennifer & Daquiri from Canada’s Got Talent make an appearance with ‘Canine Circus’. Let acrobats ‘Flying Fools’ take your breadth away and be entertained by an EX favourite, the talented ‘Extreme Dogs’. The list is long, but bull riding, antique tractor show, barrel racing, petting zoo, equestrian events, wood carving, the funny DooDoo the Clown, are few of the other attractions at the fair. Don’t forget the food! Midway treats, food trucks.. Yumm…
Live music hits the stage every night and is included with the admission cost. A number of artists from Manitoba will be on stage at the Red Barn Stage and the new Festival Stage. On Indigenous day, Tuesday, June 21st, enjoy a performance by special guest Kael Sauerborn with Ray Co-Co Stevenson.
Visitors on Saturday, June 18th and June 25th can enjoy a spectacular fireworks show at 10:30 pm.

Planning to visit? The best deal for midway riders is the Advance Pay One Price ticket. $42 will give you gate admission and access to all the rides for day. If you are not here for the rides, an advance gate admission of $12.50 will let you enjoy all the attractions and entertainment of the EX. Tickets purchased at the gate is costlier at $15. However, gate admisison is free for Kids 6 and under.
There are many deals and discounts to be had. Visitors on the opening day, June 17th who pay a full price gate admission will get a free gate pass for Sunday, June 26th. From June 20 to 24, purchase your tickets at the gate before 5 pm and you can get gate admission for only $10. Enjoy free pancake breakfasts from 11 am to 12 pm on Sundays, June 19 and June 26. You can also avail free gate admission on both days with a donation to the RRX Foundation. There are also discounts on Heroes’ Day, Indigenous day and Senior’s day.
