Get to Know Lockport
Located just half an hour away from Winnipeg, you’ll love hanging out for a day in Lockport. There’s plenty to be done here, including fishing for anyone considering themselves a master angler. Hit up Skinner’s once you’re done exploring for a tasty treat.
Visit the City of Winkler
Interested in small-town living? Located in the gorgeous Pembina Valley, Winkler is a fun place to explore. About an hour and a half away, you’ll love checking out everything Winkler has to offer, including a campground, museums, and lots of great food.
Walk Through Oak Hammock Marsh
Located near the town of Stonewall, Oak Hammock Marsh offers a fun day trip centred around nature. You’ll have a great time exploring the trails, whether you want to go by yourself or bring a friend. Don’t forget to pack your canoe to explore the waters.
Head to FortWhyte
This park is technically located within city limits, but it’s far enough away from Winnipeg’s centre that you can still make a fun day trip out of it. Hit FortWhyte’s trails and get to know the critters that call the area home. Head to the café for a snack if you get hungry.
Explore Riding Mountain National Park
This absolutely gorgeous park is only a few hours away from Winnipeg and makes for an awesome adventurous day trip. There are plenty of hiking trails of varying difficulties to explore here. Grab your binoculars and keep your eye open for the animals that live in the area.

Go Hiking at Spruce Woods Provincial Park
There’s nothing like getting away from the city for a day. At Spruce Woods Provincial Park, you’ll get the chance to reconnect with nature. Walk through the beautiful wooded areas, or check out the Spirit Sands.

Looking to see some beautiful sights? An adventure through Pembina Valley will do the trick. The 440 acres of the park will provide you with some truly stunning views.
The places all sound great. Do you know of anywhere that can provide transportation to any of these places/activities? Used to be able to go to Bird’s Hill by bus, but that was stopped a long time ago. Guess it’s too expensive.
