Outdoor Winter Activities in London
There is plenty to do in London and in the surrounding areas during the winter months. Whether you are a skier in need of an adrenalin rush or prefer a more laid back outdoor activity, there is something here for everyone. This list of attractions will guide you in exploring a variety of London’s winter attractions and will keep you physically engaged and mentally inspired.
Hit the trails
Enjoy a walk along the Cathedral of Pinesat Fanshawe Conservation Area. Do note that the yellow gates across the entrance road (by the Fanshawe Dam) will be closed. The trails can be accessed by parking in any one of the 3 parking lots located south of the yellow gate.
Explore Sharon’s Creek Conservation Area
Escape to Sharon’s Creek Conservation Area on a cold winter day. This natural landscape is enjoyed by visitors in winter for its scenic beauty, hiking trails, and birding opportunities.
Enjoy a Picnic
A picnic in winter may sound unusual, but believe me, this is a really fun way to enjoy winter. So dress warm, pack hot food and drink, and head to your favourite picnic spot.
Explore Komoka Provincial Park
Located along the scenic Thames River, the Komoka Provincial Park with its hills and valleys transforms into a gorgeous outdoor space in winter. Hiking, skiing, snowshoeing are a few activities that can be enjoyed here in winter. Do note that due to regulations, equipment rentals will not be provided.
Tobogganing is hands down the favorite winter activity for many, especially the young ones. So why not grab your favourite sled and get ready to slide. The hills at Doidge Park and Basil Grover Park are great places to spend your time tobogganing.
Go on a Ride
Fat biking is a wonderful way to keep warm in winter.

Make the Most of Winter

Located in neighborhoods throughout London are outdoor skating rinks. So get your skates and go skating! Reservations are required.
Update: All London arenas are currently closed, but if the restrictions lift – the skating rinks might reopen.
