What Is Open From May 19th in Saskatchewan – Phase Two of Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan

Hairdressers and shopping malls are all allowed under Saskatchewan’s plan to refire parts of its economy during the COVID-19 crisis.

All businesses and customers are expected to maintain physical distancing practices. Other than in an allowable business (as per guidelines), the size of public and private gatherings will remain at a maximum of 10 people.

Here is a look at what is allowed from May 19, 2020

Retail:

Retail businesses can open subject to Retail Guidelines, including:

  • clothing stores
  • shoe stores
  • flower shops
  • sporting good/adventure stores
  • vaping supply shops (vaping and consumption of vaping products not permitted in stores)
  • boats, ATV and snowmobile dealers
  • gift, book and stationery stores
  • jewelry and accessory stores
  • toy stores
  • music, electronic and entertainment stores
  • pawn shops
  • thrift stores
  • travel agencies
  • marinas
  • u-pick produce

Shopping Malls:

  • Shopping malls and their retail tenants subject to the Retail Guidelines.
  • Food court facilities are restricted to pick-up and delivery service only. All seating areas must be closed.

Select Personal Services:

Some personal service businesses  subject to the Personal Care Services Guidelines, including:

  • hairdresser/barber (may wash, cut, style and chemically alter hair)
  • registered massage therapist
  • acupuncturist
  • acupressurist

Garage sales are not permitted at this time and will be re-assessed in later phases.

Public Markets and Farmers Markets

From Phase I (already allowed):

  • Dentistry, optometry, physical therapy, optician services, podiatry, occupational therapy and chiropractic treatment.
  • Medical spas for therapeutic services provided by a licensed medical practitioner for Saskatchewan residents. All cosmetic services will be restricted until Phase Three.
  • Boat Launches
  • Fishing:
    • The Saskatchewan fishing season begins on the following dates:
    • Southern Zone – May 5, 2020
    • Central Zone – May 15, 2020
    • Northern Zone – May 25, 2020
  • Golf courses
  • Drive-In Theatres
  • Outfitting Camps
  • Outdoor Individual Recreation
