Join us for an enchanting evening under the stars at Tommy Thompson Park!

The night will begin with a captivating presentation about the winter solstice, shedding light on the science and significance of this astronomical event.

Following this exploration of the solstice, we’ll delve into the upcoming solar eclipse, an awe-inspiring cosmic phenomenon taking place on April 8, 2024.

With interactive demonstrations and engaging discussions, you’ll gain a profound understanding of solar eclipses, why they are special, and the best ways to observe them safely.

With the lowest light pollution in the City of Toronto, Tommy Thompson Park provides an ideal setting for stargazing (weather-permitting), offering a serene backdrop for this celestial adventure.

Bring your curiosity, your sense of wonder, and your desire to connect with the universe as we celebrate the magic of the winter solstice and prepare for the upcoming solar eclipse. Stargazers of all ages are welcome!

Be Prepared:

Please dress appropriately for a chilly evening. Don’t forget to wear comfortable close-toed shoes, warm layers, a toque, scarf, and gloves!
Bring a personal water bottle and snacks, if needed.
Hot beverages will be served during the evening- if you have a reusable mug, bring it! Disposable cups will be provided.

$22 per person

Cancellation Policy:

The event will run rain or shine but will be canceled if there is a greater than 70% chance of thunderstorm or other hazardous weather. Registrants will be emailed by 4pm on the day of the event if there is a cancellation.

We’ll meet at the Tommy Thompson Park Nature Centre, located a 10-minute walk in from the entrance pavilion. Free parking and public flush toilets are available at the entrance to Tommy Thompson Park.
