Join us at the Oodena Circle at The Forks National Historic Site for the Lighting of the sacred fire, pipe ceremony, entertainment and a traditional friendship dance to welcome everyone to the Manito Ahbee Festival.
Manito Ahbee Youth Education Day | May 15, 2020 @ Recplex, University of Winnipeg | Pre-registration required
1000 youth will be immersed in a one-day cultural education day at the University of Winnipeg. This years Youth Education Day will feature the following workshops & presentations:
- Honouring the Past – Join us as we celebrate 3 time honoured traditional dance styles.
- Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World
The Drum Calls Us All presented by: Manitoba 150 | May 15, 2020 @ Club Regent Event Centre
Manito Ahbee introduces The Drum Calls Us All. It is an evening of musical entertainment showcasing the talents of dancers, drummers, musicians, and invited guests into the circle as they demonstrate what they have learned about Pow Wow dancing.
Getting Jiggy With It | May 16 – In honour of the Metis community, their vibrant history and dance style that has been mastered for decades, the Festival will host Getting Jiggy With It – Square Dance Exhibition and Jigging Competition.
Art Challenge | May 16 & 17, 2020 @ RBC Convention Centre
The Live Painting Challenge is an exciting competition where artist’s paint live before an audience at the RBC Convention Centre during the International Pow Wow. There are two rounds of 20 painters. The top five from each round move onto to the final round and the chance to win monetary prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Finalists and winners are determined by ‘free’ public voting onsite. Participants have 30 minutes each round to produce a live painting.
Indigenous Marketplace & Trade Show Presented by: Fox Lake Cree Nation | May 16—17 – Whether you are looking for traditional artwork or contemporary treasures, there’s something for everyone! The Indigenous Marketplace and Trade Show is open to people attending the Manito Ahbee Pow Wow, which attracts over 5,000 people each day to the RBC Convention Centre. This is an excellent shopping experience with many vendors to choose from.
Manito Ahbee Pow Wow | May 16—17 | 12 PM – 7 PM – Ignite your spirit and experience Indigenous culture at the 2020 Manito Ahbee Pow Wow! Join us and over 800 dancers at the RBC Convention Centre on May 16th & 17th. Everyone is welcome!
