Well, you may have heard about the snow maze near Winnipeg which holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest snow maze.
But, did you know that there is a snow maze at Duck Mountain Provincial Park in Saskatchewan?
The 3,600 square foot snow maze debuted during the 2022-23 winter season.
The giant maze is back again this year and is now open at the Fern Campground so that you can enjoy getting lost even during winter.
Snow maze isn’t the only fun thing to do at Duck Mountain Provincial Park.
Those who like to meander enjoying the beauty of nature during winter can explore 78 km of trails in the park on snowshoes. If you rather zoom on snowmobiles, then there are 40 km of snowmobile trails (rentals at Madge Lake Developments) available at the park. If fat biking is more to your liking, 12 kms fat bike trails are ready for your winter exercise.
Skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts can enjoy snowboarding, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing at the Duck Mountain Ski Area.
Want to play a round of crokicurl, then you can do that too!
There is also a tobogganing hill, skating rink and guided activities like snowshoeing and bonfire skating parties on Saturdays. This year, there are new free-to-use toboggans located at the washroom facilities!
Spend a night or two at the park. Winter camping or Camp-Easy sites are available from November 1 until March 15. Call the park a minimum of 24 hours prior to check-in time (2 p.m. the day the booking begins) to make arrangement for key pick up.
Saskatchewan is known for its fishing opportunities and, in case you are itching to try ice-fishing, you can try that at Madge Lake. Remember your fishing license (not required during family day weekend).
Need replenishments? Border Mountain House in the park is an awesome barbeque smokehouse that opened recently at Madge Lake Developments in the park.
If you think there is not enough time to do it all, why not stay the night. There are two options for a weekend stay – winter camping in the park and Madge Lake Developments cabin rentals.
