Events Description
By Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman
Directed by Mariam Bernstein
The Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and the Manitoba Bar Association present The Man Who Came to Dinner from May 7 to 10 at the Tom Hendry Warehouse. The annual Lawyers Play is one of Royal MTC’s largest fundraisers, helping to bring bold and exciting programming to the stage.
The Man Who Came to Dinner is a fun romp filled with zany characters. When the Stanleys invite the brilliant critic and radio host Sheridan Whiteside to dinner, they expect an evening of delightful witticisms. They get more than they bargained for when Whiteside slips on the ice on their doorstep and breaks his hip. With Whiteside confined to their home as he recovers, the Stanleys become de facto hostages as The Man Who Came to Dinner’s wild demands and eccentric guests take over. Mariam Bernstein directs this beloved screwball comedy that is guaranteed to show off the very best of Winnipeg’s legal community.
This hilarious play is a Broadway favourite following the 2000 revival featuring Nathan Lane and Jean Smart.
