If you’re looking to get away from busy city life, then heading to the community of Steep Rock, Manitoba is a great call. You’ll find plenty to do here! Here are 10 things you won’t want to miss when you visit Steep Rock.

Located about 2 hours and 30 minutes from Winnipeg, Steep Rock makes for a great day trip or a weekend getaway from Manitoba’s capital city.

Explore Steep Rock’s Cliffs

 

One of the things Steep Rock is known for is its incredible cliff formations. Visit the rocks that give this community its name, and spend some time exploring their beauty. The area is also home to crocuses, so if you come at the right time of year you might be lucky enough to find some.

Visit Steep Rock Beach Park

During the summertime (mid-May to mid-October), Steep Rock Beach Park is open to the public daily from 9 am to 5/9 pm. You’ll love spending time exploring this gorgeous area, nestled on Lake Manitoba. Plan for a day trip here and take advantage of all the park’s amenities, like a playground, picnic areas (daily rentails available), and cooking pits. There is a daily Vehicle Pass of $6/vehicle and driver with $3 for each additional person.

Grab a Bite at the Café

There’s plenty to do in Steep Rock, but all that exploring can make you hungry. If you find yourself getting snacky, make sure you pay a visit to the café. You’ll find plenty of delicious treats that will energize you for the rest of your visit

Check Out the Lemiez Statues

Steep Rock is home to a collection of statues made by Armand Lemiez, a Belgian immigrant. Spend some time checking out the gorgeous, unique statues that he built during his time in the Steep Rock area. Make sure to bring your camera to record your finds.

Go Camping

Who doesn’t love going on camping trips? If you’re visiting Steep Rock, you’ll love spending a night or two camping here. Book a site for a few nights, or consider going with one of their seasonal sites if you plan on spending a significant amount of time out there.

Go Fishing

 

Lake Manitoba is a great place for fishing enthusiasts to head. You’ll love spending some time by yourself or with a few buddies out on the lake. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to catch your dinner!

Hit Up the Walking Trails

You’ll find plenty of great walking trails in and around Steep Rock. Go exploring for a little bit of exercise, and see the beauty of the area firsthand. The rural municipality of Grahamdale also provides ATV trails if you prefer exploring that way.

Go Canoeing

Steep Rock is a great place to go canoeing or kayaking. Hit the gorgeous waters of Lake Manitoba with your watercraft and enjoy a peaceful few hours. It’s also a fantastic way to get some exercise!

Go for a Swim

Steep Rock Beach Park’s pristine waters are a great place to cool off on a hot summer day. You’ll enjoy the nice cool waters that are perfect for a swim. Come by yourself or with your family and enjoy a lovely beach day here.

Rent a Cabin

If you really want to get away from the chaos of city life, renting out a cabin at Steep Rock is a great way to do that. You’ll love the peaceful solitude of life right on the lake, and the chance to get back to nature. A fire pit and a propane BBQ are included at the site.
