To combat and minimise the spread of novel Coronavirus, Manitoba Public Health Officials have advised cancelling or postponing any large-scale events with more than 250 attendees. Following this directive, Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Manitoba Museum, Winnipeg Art Gallery and Royal Canadian Mint will close temporarily until further notice.
Canadian Museum for Human Rights will temporarily close the Museum to the public, effective Saturday, March 14, 2020 until further notice. “We regret the impact of this decision on individuals, families, students and groups who use our facilities,” said CMHR president and CEO John Young. “However, we believe this decision is in the best interests of all communities we serve.”. We will continue to monitor the situation and will communicate with the public on this page and through all of our social media channels”.
Manitoba Museum also remain closed temporarily and stated, “Effective Saturday, March 14, 2020, the Manitoba Museum will be closed to the public until further notice, due to the public health risks associated with COVID-19. This includes the Museum Galleries, Planetarium, and the Science Gallery. All public and school programs are also suspended. We regret the impact of this decision on the communities we serve, but we think it is in the best interests of our visitors and staff.”
Winnipeg Art Gallery in a statement in the website stated “To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have decided to temporarily close the Winnipeg Art Gallery to the public, effective Saturday, March 14, 2020 until further notice. This includes upcoming events and public programs. The WAG will continue to monitor the situation and assess the need for continued closure. ”
Royal Canadian Mint has announced that it will close its boutiques in Winnipeg and Ottawa, effective Saturday, March 14 until further notice.
