The province is promising “an easier” site bookings experience with staggered launch dates across 5 dates and technical improvements like:
- additional computing resources to increase system performance;
- improvements to increase the stability of the queue and reduce the likelihood of users losing their place in line, and;
- immediate confirmations at the time of booking provided by web page messaging with a confirmation email sent within 24 hours to help speed up the performance of the service.
Last year, Manitobans waited hours on end queuing up online.
Announcing this year’s launch dates, Environment, Climate and Parks Minister Jeff Wharton said, “Our government understands that having easily accessible operations of the parks reservation service is part of the experience and we have implemented short-term changes to help improve this year’s bookings.”
“We want to thank visitors for their patience as we work diligently on implementing a new reservation system for future seasons.”
The province is promising a better reservation system beginning in 2023.
Changes Implemented This Year:
This year, comfort camping in a cabin or yurt will be allowed only for seven nights down from 14 nights. Cabins, yurts and group-use areas will be limited to two reservations per session on opening day instead of three.
You are allowed to reserve a campsite for up to 21 nights on any single reservation and back-to-back reservations exceeding 21 nights on the same campsite are not permitted.
2022 Campground Reservation Opening Dates:
- April 4 at 7 a.m. for all cabins, yurts and group-use areas;
- April 6 at 7 a.m. for campsite reservations at Birds Hill, Falcon Beach, Falcon Lakeshore and West Hawk Lake;
- April 8 at 7 a.m. for campsite reservations at all western and northern region parks (Asessippi, Bakers Narrows, Clearwater Lake, Duck Mountain, Manipogo, Paint Lake, Rainbow Beach, Rivers, Spruce Woods, Turtle Mountain, William Lake and Wekusko Falls);

To acquire one of these 7-night sites, a reservation must include a minimum 7-night stay and must include a Sunday to Sunday stay. This offer is only available on the opening day of reservations for the corresponding campground/facility.
At midnight of opening day, the 7-night stay restriction will be removed from any unsold camping inventory. So if you are planning to stay at the park for 7 nights or more in the summer of 2022, Manitoba Parks recommends that you make your reservation early. Other rules and conditions do apply.

- Be willing to compromise: The more flexible you are able to be about campsite specifics, the easier you will land a campsite, especially at a busy park or during a busy weekend.
- Book for weekdays or shoulder seasons.
- Book late: Keep checking the reservation service throughout the summer as Manitoba Parks receives many cancellations at the last minute. The best days to look for cancellations are Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays for the following weekend. Campsite Availability
