Manitoba Sunflower Festival, held annually during the fourth weekend in July, celebrates the community known as the Sunflower Capital of Canada with vibrant and colourful activities.

Look forward to a weekend of exciting events, entertainment, parade and food from July 28th to 30th.

The multi-day celebration will kick off on Thursday, July 27th, with a sunset movie night in the park south of the Altona Aquatic Centre. The movie will screen at sunset.

Throughout the weekend, you can indulge in delicious bites from food trucks at Centennial Park, open on Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from noon to dusk, and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Don’t miss the chance to savour Mennonite foods at the Rhineland Pioneer Centre on Friday (4 p.m. – 8 p.m.) and Saturday (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) and join the annual Pancake Breakfast at the Access Credit Union parking lot on Saturday, July 29th, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Saturday is packed with excitement as you can join the Festival parade, enjoy live entertainment, and witness the crowning of the pageant Queen. Wrap up the day with the Elks Dance social at the Rhineland Pioneer Centre at 8 p.m.

The Play Now Stage offers thrilling entertainment all weekend, featuring Revenge of the 80s and a hip hop night with Tirrel Thomas and Yung Balboa on Friday, an unmissable performance by Emma Peterson on Saturday. The exciting lineup on Sunday includes Noah Gitzel, Snackie, Bowen and Silas Presley.

A new addition this year is “The Outland Games,” taking place on July 29, 2023. This exciting outdoor competition offers a mix of fitness, strength, low gymnastics movements, and a swim event and is open to mixed partners of all fitness levels.

In addition to the main attractions, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy during the weekend, such as free yoga, a culture fest, a petting zoo, free face painting, free swimming, bounce-a-rama inflatables, axe throwing, bubble soccer, car show, old-time dance, and vendor markets, among many others.

If you have never been to the festival before, remember to check out the world’s largest painting on an easel, Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’, at 10th Ave NE between 5th Street NE and 6th Street NE. Book your campsite for an unforgettable experience!
